iPod Mini
After my iPod mini was returned from Apple and is no longer under warranty I have done the unthinkable and dismantled the bugger and fixed it myself. The clicker wheel is now working fine and I am confident enough to purchase the DIY battery and HDD upgrades available on the web.......hmmmmm 18+ hour battery and possibly a larger HDD - for less than 100 USD......yummy
BTW - Unless you are very open to screwing up your mini I would not recommend trying what I did. Suffice to say step one is:
1) Take a screw driver and slide the blade between the white plastic and the mettalic cover at the top of your mini. Pry the plastic off. Repeat for base.
Hm, that was easy...NOT. But the techy gadget man in me that is buried and hidden so deep could not resist!

There's an aura of "don't mess with me" surrounding Apple's products, because they are such products - Apple's got a closed-box way of manufacturing their stuff that discourages users from opening them up and messing with the innards.
Once you get over that, it's quite
easy though.
