The weekend
Amsterdam has proved to be a city that knows how to have a good weekend. Apart from my run in with a beggar/mugger who threatened to cut me, I have had a great time. The bar culture here certainly is different to Singapore - it seems more relaxed, less posey. Of course, the proliferation of tourists means that some bars are nicer than others to go to - and the proliferation of dope means that some bars are too full of stoners to enjoy too much.
Not that I am going on record against dope. However, all things in moderation is a good modus operandi, and this applies to weed as much as anything. The red light distrinct was eye opening - which considering I thought I had seen it all, is going some way. I have never seen so many women in g-strings and various types/genus of bras. Some of them are genuinely drop dead stunning. Aparently many are students trying to earn some extra cash. Walking through the red ligh district, having eaten space cake is surreal. I would recommend it - especially on a week night as there are less tourists.
I haven't really done any big eating here - to be honest I have only eaten once a day since thursday. The cold weather seems to have blunted my appetite somewhat. It is a shame as steak houses and kebabs are everywhere. Still, I am staying until Wednesday morning now, so that gives me three more nights to eat.
Tomorrow I am interviewing guys all day, so tonight will be early and no beer. Think I should go out now and buy a tie, and have a few beers.
Ciao
